Age Management

Age Management and Anti-Aging Medicine

Most adults comes to experience menopause or andropause as early as in their 30s. Premature hormonal aging, andropause (men) or menopause (women) may be related to several factors like family history, smoking, obesity, and other medical problems and most likely environmental and lifestyle factors.

Internally, the patient may feel dried up (wrinkles, dryness), swelled up (inflammation), burned out (oxidative damage) or stoned up (muscle or vessels calcifications)

By appropriate evaluation and testing, we can achieve our optimal health with lifestyle modifications, nutritional and supplement therapy, bio-identical hormonal replacement therapy and prescription medicine .

We no longer need to accept diseases as ” normal aging”; we have a choice to stay energetic, productive and enjoy a great life full of energy and excitement.

Growing old is unavoidable. Feeling old is optional!

Anti-Aging Medicine vs. Traditional Medicine

The traditional medicine model focuses on diagnosis of disease with the appropriate expectation that earlier diagnosis will improve treatment outcomes and treatment cost. This, for example, is the purpose behind Pap smears, colonoscopies and mammograms. While these are important health maintenance tools, none of them aim to prevent cancer. They just pick it up earlier.

If disease has occurred, the traditional medical model offers treatment for symptoms, and at best “disease modification” (such as medications for auto-immune disease) or radical cures with serious side effects (such as surgery, radiation and chemotherapy for cancer). Such approaches are important and often lifesaving.

Anti-aging medicine offers a multi facet treatment of disease processes focusing on health promotion and disease prevention, reversal of the degenerative process of aging and optimization of health at any age and under any condition.

As such, it does not operate within the health insurance system, which is rooted in the traditional medical model. In the long run, anti-aging medicine saves money for each individual and, one patient at a time, for our communities and society at large.

Our traditional medical model has failed. We have an epidemic of obesity among adults and children alike. Traditional diseases of aging such as diabetes have reached catastrophic proportions among increasingly younger populations.

Dr. Mario Perez is convinced that in the future the health insurance system will acknowledge this new medical specialty and incorporate it into its own system.
